Gunther (6 wks old) and My New Family Additions--Muffin, Mac and Matrix

Gunther is 6 weeks old!  He is such a special boy.  He makes little squeeking noises when he talks to me.  He is a mama's boy and loves to snuggle into my arms when I hold him.  He likes to sleep on the bed in the baby nursery which makes him a big boy finding his favorite spot to sleep.  He has been a very easy baby.
My new family is 2 weeks old today.  They have had a hard start to their lives.  The story as I understand it is that the babies were taken from their mom on a farm and drowned.  Their bodies were disposed of and discovered much later in the garbage when they were crying.  They were returned to their mom.  Then some time later the finder came into Saskatoon.  When she stopped in the city on Lorne Ave the mom dashed out from the vehicle (not sure if she was under or in the vehicle).  The babies were then discovered as well.  They are very lucky babies to have survived all this at under 2 weeks of age.  So the 2 boys (yes, boys still dominate at my house) are Mac and Matrix and the little girl is Muffin.  The three pictures of each kitten are Mac, Muffin and Matrix.  They are good babies and have gained a lot of weight.  They are happy as they have six new siblings to snuggle with.  They are eating well and starting to move around a lot more.  They purr and are happy to be held and snuggled.  Lucky, lucky babies.

Kaegan, Kerrick, Kia, Klara, Koby and Kodiak Are 2 Weeks Old Today

How these babies have grown.  The babies in order of the pictures taken are Kaegan, Kerrick, Kia, Klara, Koby and Kodiak. The girls are Kia and Klara.  Again boys rule. The babies are 2 weeks old today and how they have changed.  The initial weights/current weights are Kerrick 128g/218g, Kodiak 132g/202g, Koby 120g/234g, Kia 112g/194g, Kaegan 130g/240g and Klara 116g/226g.  They all learned to drink from the bottle the second day I had them.  The first evening was a settle in time and they cried quite a bit but by the middle of the night feed they had stopped crying and started purring.  They are getting stronger on their legs.  They are in the messy stage as they start to pee and poop on their own but not in the litter box (about 3 wks of age so sometime hopefully this week). They do go to one side of the cage so using the litter box should be just around the corner.  They have had a few baths and got blow dried (so their body temperatures don't go down for very long).  I am hitting my wall for getting up during the night as it is very tiring especially now I am back to work.  But another 2 weeks and I will be able to sleep through the night.  They now drink a bottle and a half per each feed.  Soon they will be graduating to no heat lamp and just a heated split pea bag.  Once they use the litter box there will be no more making them pee and poop.  I have gone through 4 double rolls of toilet paper in just a week.  That is a lot of tearing it into 1 foot strips.

Life is busy and the kittens are growing up.  Conley is getting adopted next week after the vet visit for Conley, Cypress and Cullen on Tuesday.  He is a lucky little boy.
The first 2 pictures are miscellaneous pictures of kittens sleeping.  The next 3 pictures are of Gunther (5 weeks old).  He has grown up so much this last week that it is amazing.  He is off the bottle now as he suddenly decided to dig in to the canned food.  Within 2 days he was off the bottle completely and gaining weight nicely.  It was so easy for him to give up the bottle and eat enough canned food to be considered a meal.  What a good boy and so easy to look after.  He is playing with the older kittens and initiates play with them.  I couldn't find him one morning for breakfast and the first head count of the day.  Then suddenly I remembered what he likes to do and I found him in the cat bed along the edge under the blanket.  He sure likes to be under things.
Polo and Pickles are 9 weeks old today.  They are great kittens and like to play a lot.  They like any toy and love to snuggle too.
